ISO 9001 Certification

The ISO 9001 Standard is about Quality Management Systems, that is, the organization’s structure, responsibilities, methods and procedures that a company must put in place to satisfy customers and regulatory bodies, and thus consistently produce goods and services of the desired quality. ISO 9001 Certification is an independent third-party assessment of an organization to determine compliance with this standard for Quality Management Systems. The growth of ISO 9001 Certification worldwide is complementary to the trend in globalization; therefore, ISO 9001 Certification is rapidly becoming a prerequisite for doing business in many markets. One of the greatest benefits that a Company can derive from ISO 9001 Certification is the recognition from customers that such certification distinguishes those companies that are interested in customer satisfaction from those that are not.

NP’s Quality Management System has been certified to ISO 9001 since 2000 and certified to a higher standard ISO 9001:2015 since 2018. The scope of certification of the Company’s Quality Management System covers bulk procurement, handling, storage, distribution and sales of gasoline; the bulk handling and storage of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG); the provision of aircraft fuelling services; and the blending, distribution and sales of lubricating oils for automotive, marine and industrial purposes. The Company’s facilities that are included within the scope of certification are the main storage and distribution facility at Sea Lots, the Crown Point Installation in Tobago, the Pointe-A-Pierre Bond and the Piarco Airport Installation.

The blending of lubricating oils takes place at the Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) at Sea Lots. In November 2018, a CFT Automated Filling Line was commissioned for filling of 5 Gallon, 5 Litre and 1 American Gallon bottles which greatly increases the production capacity and efficiency of the LOBP. From here it is warehoused and distributed to Service Stations, distributors, retail outlets and to marine and industrial customers. Currently, the Sea Lots facility is the main terminal and storage facility for the distribution of automotive fuels to North and Central Trinidad in addition to the main terminal and storage facility for bulk LPG, the Bond at Pointe-A-Pierre is currently the main facility for the distribution of automotive fuels to South Trinidad and aviation fuels to the Piarco Airport Installation. The installation at Crown Point services the needs of Tobago for automotive, marine and aviation fuels, in addition to the bulk handling, storage and distribution of LPG.  Once the Liquid Fuels Company of Trinidad and Tobago (LFCTT) comes on stream, this facility will then become the main distribution gantry for Road Tank Wagons (RTWs) of all wholesalers delivering to Service Stations operating throughout Trinidad. Jet A1 fuel will also be transported via pipeline from LFCTT to NP’s Piarco Airport Operations.
